Spaghetti Bolognese
1 onion
a little olive oil
2 tsp sugar
1 lb beef mince
1 pepper
a few mushrooms
2 (400g) tins chopped tomatoes
1 dessertspoon tomato puree
2 tsp basil
2 tsp oregano
2 tsp mixed herbs
salt and pepper
2 cloves garlic
2 tsp corn flour (optional)
Chop the onion and fry with the sugar in the olive oil for about 10 minutes until soft. Add the mince and fry until browned. Add the chopped pepper, and then the chopped mushrooms. When the mushrooms are browned, add the chopped tomatoes, tomato puree, basil, oregano, mixed herbs, salt and pepper.
Cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. 5 minutes before the end of the cooking time, add the finely chopped garlic. If you want a less runny sauce, add the corn flour as well.
Serve with pasta.
